Brad Colwell has been at Southern Illinois University for over 20 years and has served in multiple administrative and teaching capacities. Presently, he is a full professor in SIUC’s Department of Educational Administration and Higher Education, where he focuses on school law and the politics of education.

From 2017-19, Dr. Colwell was Vice President for Student and Academic Affairs for the Southern Illinois University system office.  Preceding this appointment, he served as Interim Chancellor for the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus.  Prior to coming to SIUC as Interim Chancellor, he served as dean of the College of Education and Human Development at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

Dr. Colwell lives in Carterville, IL, but was raised in the metropolis of Bluford, IL.
